Animal Owners
Why Should We Fight Together?
By Eric, April 2008
The world is facing a flood of biblical proportions. This flood is of
humans, technology, and climate changes. They are already calling the food
shortages "A Perfect Storm". Fueled by the desire for bio fuels, human food
is bearing the expense that was once put on fossil fuels.
When the hungry need to eat, what becomes valuable? Animals become meat. It
doesn't matter what animal, if it moves, humans
will find a way to kill it, and eat it. If it is poisonous, or dangerous,
killing it will calm the hungry, and eliminate a competitor.
Yet in privileged nations, some humans will choose to care for animals,
large or small. These people are truly enraptured by the wild those animals
represent, even if that wild no longer exists. These individuals offer
comfort, health care, and hope to species that once thrived in a native
habitat, where roads now fence the wild brethren in.
The large amounts of habitat that once housed wild animals but are now
called urban sprawl can still house some of these animals. Animals that have
been displaced, ostracized, and in some cases may soon be driven into
extinction.
But only if those humans that care about all animals band together, and
fight for that right.
The right to care and love all the animals that inhabit this world with us.
Caring for these animals does not tame those animals, but they help to
remind the so called "civilized humans" of their primal roots, and preserve
some of their humanity, compassion, and love.
Best, Eric
